Forest Heights Middle School in Little Rock was evacuated Tuesday morning while smoke from a malfunctioning furnace cleared.

Students and staff were ushered into the cold morning air around 9:15 but returned to class within the hour.
The smoke came from an old heater in an administrative office.

The smoke came from an old heater in an administrative office.

The school, which opened in 1955, is at 5901 Evergreen Drive and has an enrollment of 676 students. The administrative offices are a part of an addition completed in 1993 that includes 36 classrooms and a media center.
