Grenade container shown to jury in doctor’s trial

Witnesses have testified about how they found an ammunition canister loaded with grenades buried near the home of a Pope County doctor accused in a bombing that badly injured the leader of the Arkansas Medical Board.

Federal prosecutors on Monday also questioned a manager of a Russellville home improvement store, who testified about the purchase of black, plastic sheeting that was allegedly used to wrap the ammunition box before it was buried.

A worker for the city of London testified that he stumbled when his heel caught the top of box as he walked back to his truck from relieving himself in some nearby woods. He went back with a co-worker later in the day and they dug up the box and opened it.

Among the charges Mann faces is illegal possession of 40mm grenades.
