ASU-Newport announces entertainment lineup

— Programming for the 2010-2011 Patron Series at Arkansas State University-Newport has been announced, and patron sponsors are being recruited.

The Duttons of Branson will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8. The Duttons are international touring and recording artists who play everything from bluegrass to classical music, featuring a variety of instruments: violin, guitar, bass, viola, banjo, mandolin, keyboard, harmonica and drums, among others. Last year they competed on America’s Got Talent.

The International Tenors will perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3. The show includes a tribute to famous tenors of the past: Enrico Caruso, Mario Lanza and Luciano Pavarotti. The International Tenors then perform a medley of musical theater numbers, from shows such as The Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story and Les Miserables.

The second set will include a selection of holiday favorites.

The new Gershwin musical S WONDERFUL is an all-singing, all-dancing musical revue that celebrates the genius of George and Ira Gershwin. The show will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 19. S WONDERFUL is filled with the legendary music of the Gershwin brothers, including timeless classics such as “Swanee,” “Rhapsody in Blue,” “Fascinating Rhythm,” “Strike Up The Band,” “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It,” “Summertime,” “I’ve Got Rhythm,” “Someone To Watch Over Me,” “Funny Face” and many more.

Tickets for the performances will go on sale one month prior to each performance in the ASU-Newport Bookstore. The cost is $15 for a reserved seat.
