JACKSONVILLE — Teachers new to Jacksonville area schools will be welcomed by the Chamber of Commerce at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, at the Jacksonville Community Center, 5 Municipal Drive.
The annual event acquaints new educators with the community and provides an opportunity for businesses to get involved in educating children.
Each new teacher will receive a “goodie bag” ofmerchandise, such as imprinted coffee mugs, pens, pencils, note pads, rulers or promotional items from local businesses (roughly 90 bags will be filled.) Those interested in donating items can leave the items at the Chamber at least a week ahead of the event, or call, and the Chamber staff will arrange to pick them up.
