Birds halt Kings of Leon concert

— Musicians have performed through violent storms and scorching temperatures at an outdoor arena in suburban St. Louis.

But an infestation of pigeons that bombarded the Kings of Leon with droppings at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre managed to force an early end to the rock band’s concert Friday night.

A statement from the band’s management company, Vector Management, says bassist Jared Followill was hit several times, including near his mouth, and that the onslaught of feces was a potential health hazard.

The crowd grew restless after the band walked off, and an announcement told them that the show was over. Concert promoter Live Nation says fans will get a full refund.

Vector says band representatives had been warned of a pigeon infestation in the rafters.
