Cardboard boats are set to race on Greers Ferry Lake

— Elaborate vessels of corrugated cardboard will sail around Greers Ferry Lake at the annual Cardboard Boat Races, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sandy Beach in Heber Springs, as reported in Thursday’s Arkansas Weekend section. In addition to the races, there will be a volleyball tournament, sand-sculpting contest, treasure dig, tug of war and, of course, the boat demolition derby. Registration in the boat race is $45-$50 in advance, $50-$55 the day of the race.

In North Little Rock, teen sensation Justin Bieber will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday at Verizon Arena. He’ll be joined by opening acts Sean Kingston, Jessica Jurrel and The Stunners. Tickets are $31.30-$51.50.

At Riverfest Amphitheatre in Little Rock, there’ll be a four-act country concert Friday night. Eric Church and Luke Bryan are co-billed as headliners, with Randy Houser not far behind them, plus a “new” opening act, Whiskey Meyers. The show starts at 6:30 p.m., with the gates opening at 5. Lawn seats are $25 in advance, $29.50 at the gate, with reserved seating and the general admission pit area $35.
