LITTLE ROCK — COLLINS CREEK TRAIL
Location:
Trailhead parking is on Hatchery Road in Heber Springs. Turn right 400 yards east of Greers Ferry Dam on Arkansas 25. Parking is just ahead on the left.
Length:
At only 1.2 miles round trip, this is one of the most beautiful little trails in the state.
Side trips:
Longer hikes at Mossy Bluff and Joss Park Memorial Trail are within a mile. Stop at the visitor center just west of the dam for maps.
Main attractions:
A gushing pipeline from Greers Ferry Lake keeps the upper creek’s cascades and waterfalls flowing year-round and the air deliciously cool in summer.
Hazards:
The mist-covered rocks and mossy banks are slippery. Watch the kiddies.
Amenities: Parking.
Dog, bike, tyke friendly? Yes, on a leash;
no bikes; kids will love this trail - at least the going downhill part.
