Four arrested in Saline County home invasion

— A group of four men who may have been in a gang together are facing charges in a Saline County home invasion earlier this month in which the assailants broke in, held the residents at gunpoint and then made off with a variety of items.

Brothers Bobby Scarberry Jr., 25, of Mabelvale, and Kevin Scarberry, 22, of Little Rock, are each being held at the Saline County jail in lieu of $250,000 bonds after being arrested on warrants Thursday. Brandon Johnson and Zack Bailey, meanwhile, were arrested on unrelated charges in Morrilton.

All four men are facing charges including aggravated residential burglary and criminal impersonation in the June 12 home invasion. Authorities say the men are linked to several similar crimes in Little Rock as well.

Saline County Sheriff's Office Lt. Scottie Courtney said the men have claimed to be members of the Arkansas State Crooks, though it's unclear if that's an actual gang or not.

"They wouldn't ever admit to it to us, but they were telling other people they were a quote unquote 'gang,'" Courtney said. "We and Little Rock are looking into that."

The Saline County home invasion occurred after 11 p.m. when three to four armed men broke into a residence at 21720 North Mills Road and held a man and his girlfriend at gunpoint. At one point, the assailants knocked the man to the ground and kicked him at the face.

Investigators say the men later claimed to be from the Little Rock Police Department before demanding money, keys and jewelery. The intruders ultimately fled with a number of possessions and personal items, including a DVD player, cell phones, medication, driver's licenses, social security cards.

The couple's 10-and-a-half month old child was sleeping in the house when the incident occurred. After the men left, the couple took the child to a neighbor's home and alerted police.

Details on the Little Rock incidents were not immediately available.

Courtney said authorities developed an unspecified lead after one of the crimes and the Saline County victims later positively identified the four men from a photo lineup. He said it's unclear how the group picked its victims.

Courtney said Johnson and Bailey will be extradited to Saline County at some point.
