The Arkansas Supreme Court says the nomination of its chief justice, Jim Hannah, to the board of the State Justice Institute has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

The institute, established in 1984, was set up to “improve the quality of justice in state courts, and foster innovative, efficient solutions to common issues faced by all courts,” according to the SJI website.

Hannah was nominated to the institute’s board in December by President Barack Obama. The state’s high court said Hannah will be the first member of the board from Arkansas.
