Ark. couple arrested after death of baby

Police have arrested a Paragould couple in the death of their infant daughter, who was found to have methamphetamine in her system.

Detective Scott Snyder says Charles Farmer and Brittany Farmer were taken into custody last week on misdemeanor negligent homicide counts in connection with the March 5 death of Abigail Farmer.

Snyder says officials concluded that the 4-month-old girl died of asphyxiation on the couch of the couple’s residence. He says the Farmers were arrested after a medical examiner’s report showed there was meth in the child’s system.

The couple made intial court appearances, during which bond was set at $5,000 each.

A telephone number in Paragould for Brittany Farmer was disconnected.
