Just missed it

— True story: A couple of men were at the gym Wednesday morning, riding those bikes that never seem to go anywhere. It wasn’t a day for magazines or books, for the U.S.A. was on TV-at the World Cup, playing Algeria, and a win for the Yanks would mean they’d move on to play another day. The match was a defensive struggle for hours. At the end of regulation, the score was tied, 0-0. The men on the bikes were near the end of the workout when a ladyon a treadmill behind the men hit the remote and switched channels. The gentlemen didn’t raise a fuss. After all, the game was what we Americans would call overtime, and a nil-nil tie was all but wrapped up.

It wasn’t until they passed by another television a few minutes later that they’d learned the Americans had scored a goal in the 91st minute.

Now you know why men hog the remote.
