3 principals confirmed for elementary schools

— The Little Rock School Board has approved the appointment of three new elementary school principals and hired a school-improvement specialist to assist principals at two academically troubled campuses.

Ericka O’Neal-McCarroll, an assistant principal at Chicot Elementary School, will be the new principal at Bale Elementary. She is succeeding Barbara Anderson, who is the principal at the new Don Roberts Elementary School.

Sandra Register, most recently an assistant principal at Fulbright Elementary, will be the principal at Williams Magnet Elementary School,replacing Mary Menking, who has retired.

Janice Barber-Wilson, a former principal at Woodruff Elementary, will be the new principal at Rockefeller Elementary. She replaces Anne Mangan, who has retired. Barber-Wilson was acting principal at Rockefeller during a portion of the 2009-10 school year.

The board voted 5-1 to hire Sheketa McKisick to be a school-improvement specialist at two schools that will be identified later this summer. McKisick is now employed at the Arkansas Department of Education as an Arkansas Comprehensive School Improvement Plan supervisor.
