Makeshift meth lab exposed in LR motel room, 2 arrested

— The smell emanating from a southwest Little Rock motel room Monday morning led to the discovery of a methamphetamine lab and two arrests, police said.

Police were called to the Roadway Inn at 2401 W. 65th St. about 7:30 a.m., after someone reported “strong chemical odors” coming from a room, according to reports.

Inside the room, police said they found a meth laband less than an ounce of meth. Schalena Zimmerman, 32, of Little Rock, who was in the room, was also found to be in possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and the anti-anxiety drug Diazepam, police said.

Zimmerman and Steven Kinley, 42, of Little Rock, who was also in the room, were arrested on charges of manufacturing meth with the intent to deliver, possession of pseudoephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth, possession of meth with the intent to deliver, criminal use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime and possession of drug paraphernalia. Zimmerman was also charged with possession of marijuana and Diazepam.

Zimmerman and Kinley were being held late Monday at the Pulaski County jail. Zimmerman’s bail was set at $126,000, and Kinley’s was set at $60,000.
