The Arkansas Highway Commission today authorized the addition of 114 miles to the so-called Milum roads in order to connect some of them with other roads or communities. Director F.R. Oliver submitted a list of 30 projects ranging from less than 1 up to 9 miles which, he said, would make the “Milum roads” more valuable to the motoring public. 10 YEARS AGO June 29, 2000 HOT SPRINGS - Motorists here who don’t yield to pedestrians are going to get slapped with a hefty fine. “This is just a fair warning to the public we were going to start issuing citations,” Sgt. J.E. Mann said. “This is something that had to be addressed, especially with the summer tourists coming in.” A first-time offense includes a $185 fine and a mandatory court appearance. Mann said there will be increased patrols and motorcycle and bicycle police officers will be monitoring the downtown problem areas during the day.
