3 killed, 4 injured in traffic crashes

— Three people died and another four were injured in two crashes on Arkansas roads Thursday and Friday, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police accident reports.

At 11:10 p.m. Thursday, a southbound 1999 Toyota driven by Sherwanda Childers, 19, of Dumas struck a northbound Chevrolet Caprice carrying four people on U.S. 65 four miles north of Dumas in Lincoln County, the report said.

Childers and her passenger Imani Miles, whose age was unavailable and who was also from Dumas, died from injuries received in the crash.

The four occupants of the Caprice were thrown out, and the vehicle was then engulfed in flames, the report said.

Marcus Tensley, 22; LarnellWilliams, 20; Andrew Smith, 50; and Xavier Mitchell, 21, suffered unknown injuries in the crash and were taken to Delta Memorial Hospital in Dumas.

The report lists addresses in Gould for Tensley, Williams and Smith. Mitchell is from Dumas, the report states.

In a separate accident at 6:58 a.m. Friday, Jimmy Neal Jones, 55, of Hot Springs died after he lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet on U.S. 270 west of Malvern in Hot Spring County and struck a tree, the report said.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
