Pearcy man arrested in fatal shooting

— Authorities have arrested a Pearcy man who is charged with second-degree murder for a fatal shooting in February.

Robert Sipe was taken into custody Monday morning and later released on $10,000 bond.

Garland County prosecutors charged Sipe with second-degree murder for the Feb. 12 shooting of Brian Luman.

Deputies called to Sipe’s residence found Luman’s body on the ground beside a four-wheeler. Sipe told sheriff’s investigators he shot Luman after hearing his four-wheeler start up outside, then seeing someone driving away on it.

Deputy prosecuting attorney Joe Graham says citizens can defend themselves inside their own home and on their property outside their home but they can’t use deadly force solely in defense of property.

Sipe couldn’t be reached for comment.
