Adams backs Wills in runoff for Ark. House seat

An assistant attorney general who ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic congressional nomination for the 2nd District is endorsing House Speaker Robbie Wills in the June 8 runoff.

John Adams, who failed to advance to the runoff in Tuesday’s primary, said Thursday he’s backing Wills over state Sen. Joyce Elliott. Adams says he’s backing Wills because he believes the House speaker has the best shot at keeping the seat in Democrats’ hands this fall.

Congressman Vic Snyder, who represents the eight-county district in central Arkansas, announced earlier this year that he would scrap his re-election bid and retire at the end of the year. Republicans on Tuesday nominated former interim U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin for the seat.
