David Boling is backing former rival state Sen. Joyce Elliott’s bid for the Democratic nomination for a central Arkansas congressional seat.
Boling on Friday announced he would endorse Elliott in the June 8 Democratic runoff against House Speaker Robbie Wills for the 2nd Congressional District. Boling finished third in the five-person Democratic primary for the House seat.
Boling is the former chief of staff for Rep. Vic Snyder, the Democrat who represents the 2nd District. Snyder announced in January he would not seek re-election this year.
Boling says he’s backing Elliott because they agree on most issues, including health care reform. Republicans on Tuesday nominated former interim U.S. Attorney Tim Griffin for the seat.
