LR man dies of gunshot at his apartment

— Little Rock police Saturday were trying to determine who was responsible for a fatal shooting earlier in the evening on Colonel Glenn Road a block west of University Avenue.

Nicholas Sarat, 22, died after being shot in the chest at his Bradford Place apartment at 6310 Colonel Glenn Road, Apartment 503, Little Rock homicide detective Lt. Glenn King said.

Police went to the sceneabout 6 p.m. after someone called 911 reporting that a man had been shot and was unresponsive, King said.

About 6:30, Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services paramedics pumped on the man’s chest while loading him into an ambulance.

Sarat was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock where he died shortly after 7 p.m., Pulaski County Coroner Garland Camper said.

At the scene, King said, there were no suspects or eyewitnesses to the shooting.

Several people who were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting were questioned but told police they didn’t witness the shooting, King said.

King added that no weapon was found and only one round was fired.

A motive for the shooting also wasn’t known Saturday night.

Sarat died of a single gunshot wound, Camper said. An autopsy will be done on the body sometime next week.
