Caddo Valley fills treasurer position

LITTLE ROCK — The Caddo Valley City Council voted Thursday night to fill the treasurer/recorder position left open when voters approved a recall of the previous treasurer/recorder during the general election earlier this month.

The council held a special meeting stripping the position of all extra duties and creating a part-time city employee position to handle those tasks including recording and preparing meeting minutes. Under the council’s ordinance, the treasurer/recorder will be responsible for signing legal documents, banking and signing checks, as well as presiding over meetings if the mayor cannot attend.

The council voted to appoint Debbie Roberson to the position. Roberson is the wife of Stan Roberson, who won a seat on the City Council in the general election and will take office in January.

Only three of the six council members were at the meeting Thursday, and Mayor Alan Dillavou voted on the appointment to constitute a quorum, Alderman Willard Thomason said.
