Mobile home fire kills Lonoke man

— Fire claimed the life of a Lonoke man Monday morning, a Lonoke County sheriff’s office investigator said.

Fire fighters from the East Pulaski County and Scott volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at a mobile home on McCoy Road in south Lonoke, said Lt. James Kulesa of the Lonoke County sheriff’s office.

Police did not confirm the name of the victim, but said he was 31 years old.

Kulesa said the body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory along with DNA from the resident of the mobile home to determine the body’s identity.

A man whom Kulesa identified as the victim’s father told police he tried to enter the mobile home when he saw the blaze, but could not because of heat. The man burned his hands on the mobile home’s metal door, Kulesa said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
