Henderson State women score 125

Henderson State (3-1) had eight players scored at least 10 points Monday in a 125-40 victory over Baptist Bible in Arkadelphia.

Malorie Marshall led Henderson State with 22 points. Marsharae Borwn added 20 points.

Baptist Bible (0-7) committed 24 turnovers in the first 20 minutes, which led to 43 points. Henderson State led 66-23 at halftime.

Meagan Winslow led Baptist Bible with a game-high 29 points.

JBU players named to conference honor

John Brown forward Adrian Miller was named men’s player of the week Monday by the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Miller averaged 15.5 points and 10 rebounds in two victories last week. He shot 83 percent from the field.

Ashley Taylor, a senior from Bergman, was named women’s player of the week. She averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in two victories last week.

FOOTBALL

UCA players earn conference mention

Central Arkansas defensive end Markell Carter was named defensive player of the week Monday by the Southland Conference.

Carter had seven total tackles, including a 19-yard sack and a 36-yard fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in Saturday’s 28-24 victory over McNeese State.

Eddie Carmona was named special teams player of the week. He punted six times for a total of 258 yards.

GOLF Roachell tied for second in Polo

Summar Roachell of Conway is currently tied for second after the first round of the Polo Golf Junior Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Roachell shot a 1-over par 73 on the Champion Course at the PGA National Resort & Spa and is in a four-way tie for second in the 75-player field.

Moriya Jutanugarn of Bangkok, Thailand, leads the tournament after an even-par round of 72. The tournament is conducted by the American Junior Golf Association.
