LR police charge 2

in man’s robbery

Two Little Rock men were arrested late Monday and charged with aggravated robbery after police say they forced a man to buy them beer when he couldn’t withdraw money from an automated teller machine.

Rodney C. White, 41, of 7515 Geyer Springs Road, Apartment 14A, and Raymond E. Sims, 53, of 35 Winchester Drive knocked on the door of Jeremy Combs, 37, around 10 p.m., a police report states.

Combs, who lives at the same address as White but in apartment 13E, told police White had his hands in his jacket and implied he had a gun, according to the report.

When Combs told the men he had no money, they took four packs of cigarettes from him and made Combs ride with them to a Regions bank branch on Geyer Springs Road. Combs couldn’t withdraw any money, so the men drove to a convenience store and had Combs buy three beers, a soda and a pack of cigarettes.

Police later found White and Sims at White’s apartment and arrested the two without incident. They told detectives they didn’t rob Combs, a report states.

Both men were being held Tuesday night in the Pulaski County jail and are facing counts of aggravated robbery and theft of property. White was being held in lieu of $20,000 bond and Sims in lieu of $10,000 bond.
