State health panel to host AIDS talk

— The Arkansas Minority Health Commission will host a panel discussion on HIV and AIDS in Arkansas on Tuesday at the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Service in Little Rock.

The event will include discussions of state contributions to HIV and AIDS treatment, grass-roots efforts to prevent the spread of the disease and legislative recommendations for the 2011 session.

Panelists include, among others, Dr. Creshelle Nash, medical director of the Minority Health Commission; Patrick Packer, executive director of the Southern AIDS Coalition; Amy Rosenberg of the Harvard Law School Health Law and Policy Clinic; and HIV patients.

The event, which will beheld at 2301 S. University Ave. from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., is open to the public and there is no admission charge.

On Wednesday, gospel singer Dorinda Clark-Cole will perform at 7 p.m. at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center, 501 W. Ninth St., Little Rock.

Concert admission is free but tickets are required, with a limit of two tickets per person. Tickets, which must be picked up before the concert, are available at the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center or by calling (501) 683-3593. There will be no will-call window the night of the performance, officials said.
