2 separate vehicle accidents on state roads leave 3 dead

— Three people died on Arkansas roads in two unrelated accidents on Saturday, Arkansas State Police said.

Two people died and another was injured in a headon collision on Arkansas 5 near Mountain View, a news release from police said.

Jeremiah Fellers, 34, of Ida died when he attempted to pass another vehicle in his 1999 Dodge Avenger around 12:15 a.m. while heading north in Stone County.

As he passed the unknown vehicle, Fellers collided with a truck being driven by Leo Clark, killing Fellers instantly, the report said.

According to the release, Fellers’ passenger, Sarah Tallchief, 28, of Conway also died at the scene of the crash.

Clark, 58, of Norfork, who was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram, was injured and taken to the Stone County Medical Center where he was released sometime Saturday, police said.

On Lafayette County Road 81 around 3:30 a.m., a woman traveling west died after she fell asleep while driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal-crash report.

Amanda Jo Yates, 28, of 40 Lafayette Drive in Stamps went off the road when she fell asleep. She overcorrected,and the pickup rolled, the report states.

Yates and her passenger, Russell Dale Yates, 32, who lived with the deceased, were ejected from the truck when it rolled.

Amanda Yates died on the road where she crashed about five miles south of Stamps, the report said.

Russell Yates suffered unknown injuries, and medical responders took him to Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
