ARKANSAS 7, LSU 0

Arkansas’ first drive was stopped by a muffed Shotgun snap.

Linebacker Jerico Nelson had tackles for losses of 4 and 5 yards on LSU’s first two snaps, but a muffed punt catch by Joe Adams set the Hogs back to their 4. Maudracus Humphrey recovered a botched LSU punt return, but Zach Hocker missed a 41-yard field goal. The Tigers drove 50 yards, but Josh Jasper hooked a 43-yard field-goal try. Pass completions of 37 yards to Jarius Wright and 15 yards to D.J.

Williams, on a tipped ball, set up Knile Davis’ 14-yard touchdown run.

A holding call on Adams ended the next Hogs’ series.

2nd Quarter

ARKANSAS 21, LSU 14

Arkansas lost containment on its left edge on third-and-9, and Jordan Jefferson scrambled for 13 yards.

Two play-action passes covered 56 yards, then Stevan Ridley powered in for a 5-yard score. LSU punted on fourth-and-1 from the Hogs’ 49.

Ryan Mallett hit Cobi Hamilton on a streak on third-and-9 for an 85-yard touchdown. Patrick Peterson’s 55-yard kickoff return set up a 42-yard drive and Ridley’s 3-yard score. Four changes of possession in the last 1:25 of the period allowed Mallett to hit Hamilton again over the deep middle.

Two Tigers collided, Jarius Wright screened off Peterson inside the 10 and Hamilton scored an 80-yarder on the last play.

3rd Quarter

ARKANSAS 21, LSU 20

The Arkansas special teams lapsed into a funk. Patrick Peterson returned the second half’s opening kick 54 yards to set up a 46-yard Josh Jasper field goal. Ryan Mallett was sacked on third down, then Dylan Breeding bobbled the punt snap and was swarmed at the Arkansas 9. The Razorbacks defense held and Jasper made a 20-yard field goal. Arkansas moved to midfield, but Mallett’s deep middle pass was picked off by Eric Reid. Tenarius Wright sacked Jordan Jefferson on third down. The Razorbacks drove into LSU territory, holding a 21-20 lead, as the period ended.

4th Quarter

ARKANSAS 31, LSU 23

Joe Adams ran a double move on LSU corner Tyrann Mathieu on fourth-and-3 and grabbed a 39-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Mallett. LSU punted and Arkansas held the ball the next 6:02, calling nine consecutive running plays to drive inside the LSU 5. Zach Hocker kicked a 19-yard field goal to make it 31-20. LSU ran a quality two-minute drill, but a Shotgun snap over Jordan Jefferson’s head lost 19 yards and the Tigers had to settle for a field goal. Cobi Hamilton recovered the onside kick attempt for Arkansas.

After a punt, Andru Stewart stripped Jefferson on a sack at the 1 and Jerry Franklin recovered for the Razorbacks.
