Club’s anniversary fundraiser doesn’t skimp on the trimmings - or the good will

— Little Rock Junior Departmental Club kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration Nov. 18 with a luncheon and fundraiser at Pleasant Valley Country Club.

Local designer Tom Chandler entertained the guests with tales of decorating do’s and don’ts. He then showed the club members and their guests how to make an elaborate Christmas tabledisplay using foam board, garland, three wise men, plumes and ornaments. And he warned the all-women audience to never buy skimpy garland.

Dale Cook chaired the event. The club’s president, Barbara Maloney, served as master of ceremonies. The event also included a silent auction and drawings for a $1,500 gift certificate at Kenneth Edwards Fine Jewelers provided by Audrey Riser and decorating classes at Chandler’s School of Interior Decorating.

Money raised during the event goes to the Learning Disabilities Association of Arkansas, an organization that provides services to children and adults.
