— Knights to host Christmas party

The North Little Rock Knights of Columbus will host a Christmas party for mentally challenged residents from the area 1-3 p.m. Dec. 5 at KC Hall, 6253 Camp Robinson Road.

The event, an organization tradition for about 30 years, expects about 140 guests and approximately 70 caretakers, according to a news release.

Foundation plans spring tulip fest

There will be 25,000 pink tulips brightening North Little Rock’s historic Argenta areaof the city’s downtown come spring.

The Argenta Arts Foundation plans to announce Monday its “Paint It Pink Festival” in Argenta. The festival is to benefit the Arkansas affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization in honor of families affected by breast cancer.

The foundation is to announce details for the March 25-31 event Monday at City Hall.

Shop With a Cop set at Wal-Mart

The North Little Rock Police Department will haveits fifth annual “Shop With a Cop” event Dec. 12 and 19 at Wal-Mart, 4450 E. McCain Blvd.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. on each of those dates.

Volunteers are needed on both days to assist with wrapping gifts and can get information by e-mail at ofthomasnorman@yahoo.com.

Shop With a Cop benefits children from North Little Rock families in need of assistance during Christmastime. The children are selected before the shopping day.

This year’s event will benefit 100 children from 40 families, according to a Police Department news release.
