NLR police investigating two homicides

— Authorities in North Little Rock are investigating two homicides that occurred within hours of each other Sunday night and Monday morning.

Isaac Williams, 26, and Brandon Monroe, 21, are both believed to have been shot to death. The incidents are not related to each other, police said.

According to a news release from the North Little Rock Police Department, Williams was found lying beside a car at 701 W. 18th St. after a 911 caller reported a shooting near the basketball courts there around 10 p.m.

Monroe, meanwhile, was a passenger in a car when he was shot near 47th Street and Camp Robinson Road, police said. The driver, who was not identified, reported that shooting just after 1:30 a.m.

No arrests have been made and no details on the events leading up to each shooting were released.

Police say the deaths marked the fourth and fifth homicides of the year, not counting two that were ruled justified and an officer-involved shooting still under review by the prosecutor. There were 10 homicides in North Little Rock in 2009.
