2 die in accidents on state highways

— Two people were killed in highway accidents Sunday and Monday in Bryant and near Fort Smith, the Arkansas State Police reported.

In Saline County, Waylon Griffis, 32, of Benton was killed Sunday when he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 30 near Reynolds Road in Bryant, according to a state police report.

Griffis was attempting to cross the highway from north to south when he was struck by the westbound vehicle, described only as a 2001 Ford, at 10:18 a.m., the report said.

The Ford’s driver and a passenger were not injured, the report said.

South of Fort Smith, Kris Hunley, 33, of Fort Smith was killed in an accident Monday on Arkansas 45, according to a state police report.

Hunley was headed east in a Honda Civic at 7:32 a.m. when he drove off the highway on a curve and struck a tree, the report said. Hunley was pronounced dead at the scene.
