Man flown to hospital after being pinned under tree

— A man was taken to the hospital by helicopter Tuesday morning after being pinned under a tree in Saline County.

It happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. at a vacant lot on Nick Cove, East End Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Winfrey said.

The man, whose name was not released, was completely pinned by the 2-foot-wide tree, Winfrey said. Firefighters got him out, stabilized him in an ambulance and then loaded him onto a Baptist Hospital helicopter, Winfrey said.

The man was conscious when crews arrived and his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The accident reportedly occurred during work to clear the lot.

"They ... cut a tree down and he didn't get out of the way quick enough," Winfrey said.
