Unclaimed items worth $22 million

— State Auditor Jim Wood announced Tuesday that his office received $22 million in unclaimed property and money during fiscal 2010. He said it’s now available to be claimed by the rightful owners.

The assets are held by the auditor’s office until they are claimed.

Wood held his annual news conference promoting the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt at the state Capitol. Tables displayed unclaimed items, including gold coins, jewelry, silverware and oldphotographs.

People can search for their names at www.artreasure hunt.com to see if their property is being held.

On Saturday at 4 p.m. on AETN, the names of 4,500 people each with property valued at $425 or more will be listed. The names of people with at least $50 to be claimed will be published in newspapers.
