— An executive who has served in leadership positions with Coca-Cola and Ben & Jerry's ice cream was named Thursday as the new leader of Little Rock-based Heifer International.

The anti-hunger non-profit introduced Pierre Ferrari as its new chief executive officer at a news conference at its downtown headquarters.

Ferrari talked about the need to keep up Heifer's mission among an increasingly changing world.

"In this increasingly chaotic world, we will need to dream more, learn more, do more and become more," he said. "The energy I'd like to tap into to get this done is entrepreneurship."

The Harvard and Cambridge-educated Ferrari is a strategic entrepreneur who "who loves to delve deeply into problems and figure them out," Heifer board chair Doug Smith said.

Ferrari's background includes serving as the chair of the board for the ice cream company.

He succeeds Charles Stewart, who has been serving as interim CEO since Heifer’s longtime President and former CEO Jo Luck stepped down early this year.
