LR radio host has 'medical emergency' on air

— A longtime Little Rock radio personality who co-hosts a popular show on KABZ 103.7 suffered a medical emergency on air Friday morning and had to be hospitalized, according to a posting on the station's website.

Tommy Smith, co-host of "The Show With No Name" suffered the unspecified medical problem while broadcasting around 9:30 a.m., the station said. His condition is reportedly stable.

“Thoughts and prayers of all the staff at Signal Media are with Tommy and his family at this time,” company Vice President Steve Jonsson said in the post. “We are here to provide any support that they may need. And we ask the listeners to include the family in their thoughts and prayers as well.”

A biography on the KABZ site calls Smith a "radio icon" who started at Magic 105 in 1980, briefly worked in Memphis and moved to 103.7 in 2004.
