Flood fight continues in parts of Minn., Wis.

With 240 guests expected, Luke Fischer and Rachel Smith weren’t about to let the flooding across southern Minnesota get in the way of their wedding.

The 24-year-olds from suburban Minneapolis went back to her hometown of Waseca (wah-SEE’-kah) to get married Saturday. Their reception was about 10 miles away in Owatonna (oh-wuh-TAHN’-nuh), where 70 homes had to be evacuated earlier in the week.

But as the waters recede and roads reopen, Fischer joked that they’re happy they didn’t need to take a boat to their reception.

The attention in Minnesota’s flood fight Saturday turned to towns like Zumbro Falls and the Mankato area.

In neighboring Wisconsin, also drenched by heavy rains, the concern has shifted to towns along the rising Wisconsin River in central Wisconsin.
