UCA keeps streaks alive

Chloe Smith had 22 kills and Karlie Giesler had a season-high 12 kills to lead Central Arkansas to a 26-28, 25-17, 25-23, 15-10 victory over Sam Houston State on Thursday in Conway. The victory was the Sugar Bears’ 24th consecutive victory in the Southland Conference and the 20th consecutive victory at the Prince Center.

Cristin Curl had 17 digs for Central Arkansas (10-6, 2-0) and Marissa Collins had 54 assists and 10 digs. Carli Kolbe led Sam Houston State (6-10, 0-1) with 19 kills and Haley Neisler added 12.

Henderson State wins

Robin Law had 19 digs and 14 kills to lead Henderson State to a 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia.

Henderson State (9-4, 1-1 Gulf South Conference) started out slow as UAM took an 8-4 lead in the first game. But Stephanie Batchelder, who finished with 17 assists, served five consecutive points to put the Lady Reddies in front for good. Libero Ashley Totten added 17 digs in the victory. MacKenzie Hubbard led UAM (0-11, 0-1) with nine kills and Dayna Moyer had eight kills.

Tech gets road victory

Sarah Con Lienen had 11 kills and Laura Farney added 9 kills, 12 digs and 3 blocks to lead Arkansas Tech to a 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Southern Arkansas on Thursday at the W.T. Watson Athletics Center in Magnolia.

The victory was Arkansas Tech’s ninth consecutive victory, its longest steak since 2008.

Ashlynn Hamrick had seven kills for Arkansas Tech (14-3, 2-0 Gulf South) and had a team-best .636 hitting percentage. Becca Pate led SAU (6-5, 0-2) with eight blocks and 11 digs.

OBU loses at home

Libby Merritt had 12 kills and Allison Frizzell added 42 digs, but Christian Brothers held on to beat Ouachita Baptist 18-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 15-10 on Thursday at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in Arkadelphia.

Kaitlyn Mitcham had 10 kills for OBU (11-2, 0-2 Gulf South) and Lexie Hegi had 27 assists. Michelle Hein led Christian Brothers (7-9, 2-0) with 15 kills and Kelsey Miles had 51 assists.

UAFS sweeps Dallas Baptist

Arkansas-Fort Smith got a career-high 16 kills from KatyBeth Carlson on its way to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 victory over Dallas Baptist on Thursday night at the Stubblefield Center in Fort Smith.

Brittany Hunt had eight kills for Arkansas-Fort Smith (6-6), and Jettie Stec had seven kills. Sydney Potts had 29 assists and 17 digs.

Kaylyn Frink led Dallas Baptist (7-7) with eight kills, while Krystal Wunderlich added six. Tyler Bradsher had 13 assists and May Allen had 11.

John Brown wins at home

Erin Didier had 18 kills, and Staci Williamson and Amber Wilson added 10 kills each to lead John Brown to a 20-25, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, 15-9 victory over Oklahoma City University at Bill George Arena in Siloam Springs.

Alyssa Hanson had 40 assists and 11 digs for John Brown (10-7, 2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) and Allie Rankin had six blocks.

Hendrix wins trimatch

Hendrix College defeated Rust College 25-19, 25-17, 25-18 and defeated Philander Smith 25-16, 25-14, 25-22 to win a trimatch on Thursday at Mims Gymnasium.

In the third match, Rust College defeated Philander Smith 25-23, 25-15, 18-25, 25-19. Britni Means and Sawdawna Perkins had nine kills each for Philander Smith and Ariel Flood added eight. Adjoa Darkwah had 17 digs and Miesha Williams had 17 assists.

Williams had 10 kills to lead Philander Smith against Hendrix. Flood and Means had 3 kills each.

Arkansas loses to Tennessee

Chelsea Hatcher scored in the 88th minute as Tennessee beat Arkansas 2-1 Friday in the team’s SEC opener in Knoxville, Tenn.

Ally Atkins gave Arkansas (3-5-1, 0-1-0 SEC) a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute. But the Lady Vols (4-5-0, 1-0-0) tied the game at 1-1 with Emily Shore’s goal in the 17th minute.

Britni Williams had eight saves for the Razorbacks, who will play at No. 17 Georgia on Sunday.
