UCA loses players, game

— Losing three key starters was not a good recipe for Central Arkansas to get a victory at Tulsa on Saturday night.

The Bears lost 41-14 at H.A. Chapman Stadium. It was the second meeting between the teams in three years. Tulsa (2-2) won the first meeting 62-34 in 2008.

Junior starting quarterback Nathan Dick left the game with an injury to his left, nonthrowing shoulder late in the second quarter. Dick, who completed 8 of 14 passes for 83 yards, did not return.

The Bears (3-1) also lost leading tackler Frank Newsome to a concussion and cornerback Marcus Dumasto a knee injury.

Redshirt freshman Wynrick Smothers was 7 of 18 for 100 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Kenneth Robey led UCA with seven receptions for 110 yards. Jackie Hinton ran 10 times for 61 yards to lead the Bears’ running backs. Terrence Bobo had 46 yards on 12 carries and scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Isaiah Jackson scored on an 11-yard pass from Smothers with 2:50 left.

Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne completed 22 of 33 passes for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. Alex Singleton ran for 93 yards on 12 carries. Charles Clay (Little Rock Central) caught 2 passes for 36 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown pass from Kinne in the second quarter.
