Murphy reaches accord on refineries in La., Wisc.

Murphy Oil Corp. says it has reached an agreement with the federal Environmental Protection Agency covering emissions at refineries in Louisiana and Wisconsin.

Murphy said in a news release Monday that the agreement is similar to those currently in force for refineries with about 90 percent of the nation’s refining capacity.

The company said the agreement covers its refineries at Meraux, La., and Superior, Wisc.

Tom McKinlay, senior vice president for manufacturing at Murphy Oil USA Inc., said the agreement calls for the company to commit up to $142 million over the next nine years to emission-reduction efforts at the two facilities.
