ON TV CONTEST

— Where would TV be without alien abductions, vampire romances and flying superheroes? It would probably be a very dull place.

For the On TV Contest, the judge asks: What is your favorite science-fiction or fantasy series? Why?

Did The X-Files revive your fear of the dark? Do you like your alien invasions sinister, as on V, or friendly as on Alien Nation?

If the show in question includes monsters, demons, aliens, space travel, time travel, parallel universes or people with superpowers, it’s eligible. If you’re uncertain, just ask the judge. Unlike characters on The Gates, she doesn’t bite.

For this contest, you must limit yourself to live-action scripted series. No cartoons or “reality” shows allowed. Your entry may take any form, as long as you explain your choice.

Send the entry (one per contestant), including your mailing address and daytime phone number, to Jennifer Nixon at 121 E. Capitol Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72201; or by e-mail to jnixon@arkansasonline.com. Entries must be received no later than 3 p.m. Oct. 11.

The reader with the best-written entry will get to choose from Judge Nixon’s Fabulous Prize Pile of TV DVD sets.

Who can enter: Anyone except the winner of the last contest, Bill Harrell of Little Rock, and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC employees.

Note to privacy-conscious readers: We do not compile lists of mail or e-mail addresses for evil plots or marketing purposes. All entries are destroyed after the judge has selected her winner.
