The news release said that in the scheme, marijuana was shipped to western Arkansas using UPS and then divided into smaller amounts and distributed in the Fort Smith and Fayetteville areas

The cash from the marijuana sale then was deposited in bank accounts controlled by the conspirators in Texas, according to the news release. The conspirators then purchased more marijuana with the money or paid distribution expenses.

The investigation was conducted by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, Arkansas State Police, U.S. Postal Service and the Fort Smith, Fayetteville and Siloam Springs police departments.
