Springdale man arrested on assault charges

A Springdale man is accused of coming at his wife with a knife and threatening to cut off her head, according to police.

Officers were called to 3312 Old Wire Road regarding a domestic disturbance. The wife of Dennis C. Wooldridge, 60, told police that she came home from work and went to watch TV in the bedroom when she said her husband grabbed her by her nightshirt and waved a knife at her, threatening to slash her throat and cut her head off, according to a news release from the Springdale Police Department.

It was then, she told officers, that their son came into the bedroom and struck her husband with a stick. She was able to break free to call police.

The son told officers that Woolridge tried to stab him in the face but that he was able to get the knife away from his father.

Woolridge was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of terroristic threatening. He was transported to the Benton County Jail.
