Harding pharmacy student association honored nationally

— The Harding University branch of the Student Association for Health-System Pharmacists was featured in the Student Society Spotlight section of the organization’s national affiliate website for the chapter’s membership-drive efforts.

The prestigious American Society of Health-System Pharmacists recognizes student organizations, called SSHPs, for highly successful completion of their required projects throughout the year and is currently featuring the 50-member Harding University chapter on the website.

“The ASHP Student Society Spotlight is intended to showcase the great work of our officially recognized SSHPs and share best practices for other SSHPs to reapply on campuses nationwide. It is reserved for the best of the best — only 12 SSHPs annually earn this distinction,” said Marni Lun, director of the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum.

The Harding student society used a “Meet and Greet Membership Drive” with the incoming first-year pharmacy class to help increase the group’s numbers by at least one-third, which earned praise from the national affiliate.

The vice president of the Harding SSHP, Diana Park, applied to be featured in the student spotlight section, and was able to shed light onto the mission of the group, expressed their goals and shared advice with other student societies across the nation.

The Harding SSHP was established and received ASHP Official Recognition in 2009 and has grown to be a strong group on campus with the help of the ASHP and the Student Society Development Grant Program. The acknowledgment the chapter received from the ASHP has helped gain awareness from faculty and students across campus.
