Ladies Lunch Break

CONWAY — A Ladies Lunch Break will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. A meal, including dessert and a drink, is served for $5. Nursery care is available. Call (501) 327-6565 for more information.

SATURDAY

Spaghetti Dinner

NEW DIXIE — There will be a spaghetti and sausage dinner in St. Boniface Hall from 4-7:30 p.m. The dinner will feature homemade rolls and peach cobbler. The cost is $8 for adults; $4 for children. Children under age 6 may eat free with a parent. For carryout, call (501) 759-2896 after 3:30 p.m. All proceeds go to charities.

Melodies & Medicine

MORRILTON — St. Anthony’s Medical Center Foundation will present its fourth annual Melodies and Medicine, “Puttin’ on the Glitz,” at 6 p.m. on the hospital lawn. Tickets are $35 per person. The event will feature Taste of Morrilton, a talent show, live auction and the Arkansas Jazz Trio. Proceeds will go to purchase patient-care equipment in the surgery department at St. Anthony’s Medical Center. For more information, call (501) 977-2394.

Benefit Dinner

CONWAY — The Toad Suck Friends of NRA Annual Benefit Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. at the Faulkner County Resource Center, 110 Amity Road in Conway. The event will feature a meal catered by Jill McCullom; a live and silent auction; raffles for firearms, unique home décor items, goods and services from local merchants, and sporting goods. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Arkansas youth shooting programs, women’s shooting programs, range development, law enforcement and national conservation efforts. SUNDAY, APRIL 10

Conway AGATE Meeting

CONWAY — The Conway Advocates for Gifted and Talented Education will meet from 2-4 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 925 Mitchell at Prince Street. The speaker will be Davis Hendricks, legislative liaison and Gifted and Talented advocate for the AGATE Board. There will also be a reception honoring Donna Whiting, G/T supervisor for the Conway schools. She received the Award of Excellence at the AGATE Conference. Also honored will be Julie Haynes, G/T specialist for the Conway schools, who received an AGATE Educator Award. All parents, teachers and interested community members are invited.

MONDAY, APRIL 10

Comedian Performance

RUSSELLVILLE — Comedian Seth Myers, head writer for Saturday Night Live, will perform live at 8 p.m. at the John E. Tucker Coliseum at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. Doors will open at 7 for the performance. Tickets are $20 for the general public and are on sale at the Doc Bryan Student Services Building information booth. Tickets will be available for purchase from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through Friday.

Scholarship Application

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Newcomers Club will once again offer a $1,000 scholarship. All residents of Maumelle are eligible to apply, as well as any immediate family member of a Newcomers Club member. Applicants must have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade-point average and cannot be the recipient of a full scholarship. The scholarship is available to those attending a four-year or two-year institution or an accredited technical college. Graduate and part-time students are also eligible. Applications, which must be postmarked by Monday, April 18, can be obtained at the Maumelle Public Library or by calling scholarship chairman Terry Jones at (501) 851-2966.
