— “A Night of Elegance Connected With Timeless Service” was the theme of the 16th annual Ivy Ball, held Feb. 19 in the Grand Ballroom of Embassy Suites in Little Rock.

Hosted by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority’s Beta Pi Omega chapter and The Ivy Foundation of Little Rock, the event was a benefit for the chapter’s scholarship fund.

Tjuana Byrd, Beta Pi Omega chapter president, greeted guests during a program that included recognition of former AKA south-central regional directors Mary Louise Williams and CarmelitaSmith. Program presenters included Ivy Foundation president Wilhelmina Lewellen, along with Cassandra Norman, Marsha Davis and LaTrese Johnson Martindale.

Attendees dined on breast of chicken with marsala and mushroom sauce and competed for silent-auction items as diverse as assorted cheeses from Cabot Creamery; men’s alligator boots from Crossroads Western Wear; and music lessons from Sound Factory Music Inc. The Ivy Cup (live) auction included a six-course dinner for two from 1620 Restaurant; a custom-made dress shirt from Michael Blake Menswear; two round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines; and a bottle of Dom Perignon, donated by Estella Morris.

Music was provided by Rodney Block and The Real Music Lovers.
