High water forces closings at DeGray, Ouachita, Greeson lakes

High water conditions on the Ouachita, Caddo and Little Missouri rivers has led to the closure of several recreational areas at Lake Ouachita, DeGray Lake and Lake Greeson during Memorial Day weekend, the Army Corps of Engineers said Friday.

A month of severe weather and heavy rains prompted the decision by the corps.

LAKE OUACHITA:

• Brady Mountain Recreation Area: 8 of 74 campsites – CLOSED

• Campground Beach and parking lot - CLOSED

• Both boat ramps - CLOSED (Corps of Engineers and Arkansas Game & Fish Commission)

• Day Use Swimming Beach - CLOSED

• Brady Mountain Pavilion - OPEN

• Crystal Springs Recreation Area: Overflow camping area – OPEN; Day Use Area – CLOSED; 52 of 74 campsites - CLOSED

• Joplin Recreation Area: Boat ramp in front of the Lodge – CLOSED; 50 of 64 campsites - CLOSED

• Tompkins Bend Recreation Area: Campsites 1-16 and 31-58 – OPEN; Campsites 17-30 and 59-77 – CLOSED; (31 of 77 campsites - CLOSED)

• Denby Point Recreation Area: Campground and Boat Ramp – OPEN; Campground Beach - CLOSED

• Twin Creek Recreation Area: CLOSED

• Little Fir Recreation Area: Campground - CLOSED

• Highway 27 Recreation Area: CLOSED
