Inmate suicide investigated at Pulaski County jail

— Authorities say an inmate at the Pulaski County jail killed himself Sunday afternoon by tying a sheet around his neck.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office said Antwon Williams, 29, was found dead in his cell around 3:50 p.m. while a jailer was delivering food.

According to a report, Williams had tied one end of the sheet around his neck and the other end around the bars on the window.

Efforts at the jail to revive Williams were unsuccessful. He was then transported to UAMS Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Williams had been in jail since a Feb. 12 arrest in Little Rock on charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property.

Sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Carl Minden said Williams had been on suicide watch previously, but was not under it at the time of his death.

But Minden said Williams was being held in a unit in the jail where he was checked every hour.
