— The Searcy plant of Yarnell’s Ice Cream Co., which has been mired in bankruptcy since August, is to be sold at auction at the end of next month.

The Daily Citizen reports that the auction is set for Nov. 30, but the Searcy City Council may not hand over title to some of the plant property it holds from an industrial bond agreement.

The city doesn’t owe money on the bond but City Attorney Buck Gibson advised the council to wait for a court order to release the property.

Family-owned Yarnell’s was the last locally-owned ice cream producer in Arkansas when it abruptly filed for Chapter 7 on Aug. 26. The city wants another company to make ice cream at the plant, but Gibson says there are no prospects.
