— Sarah Catherine Phillips and Jorge Gutierrez were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, in Christ Episcopal Church. Officiating were the Revs. Scott Walters, Susan Sims Smith and Guillermo Castillo.

The bride is the daughter of Susan and James Harry Phillips III, 6021 Greenwood Road. She is the granddaughter of Agnes and Col. James Harry Phillips Jr. of Fordyce and the late Rosalyn and Charles Miller Wesley.

Parents of the groom are Lucy and Luis Fernando Gutierrez of Bogota, Colombia. He is the grandson of the late Rosa and Fidel Gutierrez of Armenia, Colombia.

Vows were exchanged in English and Spanish, with music by the Compline Choir of Christ Church. Harriet Stephens, Beatriz Gutierrez Junco and Courtney Myers Pender read the first reading and petitions, and the Rev. and Mrs. Christoph Keller served as Eucharistic ministers.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless white satin gown with a chapel-length train and carried a bouquet of white wedding flowers.

Serving as maid of honor was her sister, Anna Elizabeth Phillips, of Princeton, N.J. She wore a navy blue one-shoulder gown.

Flower girls were Katherine Elizabeth and Ana Lorraine Pendergast of Leawood, Kan., cousins of the bride, and Camila Junco of Miami, niece of the groom.

Honorary attendants were Courtney Myers Pender of Charlotte, N.C.; Joy Wilson Lechner of Ahwatukee, Ariz.; and Marie Therese Lindquist of Little Rock.

Chad Anthony Baker of North Little Rock was best man.

A reception followed at the Clinton presidential library. Guest tables held tall black cylinder vases holding bamboo and white orchids.

The bride is a graduate of Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C., with bachelor’s degrees in international business and music. She received a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School in Cambridge, Mass., and owns S.C. Phillips, a personal money management company in Little Rock.

The groom received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellin, Colombia, and a master’s degree in polymer and coatings technology from DePaul University in Chicago. He is the technical director and plant manager of Poloplaz Inc. in Jacksonville.

After a wedding trip to San Juan, Puerto Rico, the couple will live in Little Rock.
