Sheridan Lady Yellow Jackets

Conference: 6A-South

Coach: Brian Davenport (first year at Sheridan)

Assistant coaches: Cole Harriman and Katrina Allen

Last season’s record: 16-12, second in the 6A-South

Returning starters: None

Best inside players: Annie Wilkins, a 5-foot-11 senior who sat out her junior season. “She is a very good shooter, has good hands and a great touch. She needs to continue to get herself back into playing form and condition,” Davenport said.

Best perimeter players; Bryanna Moltz, 6-0 junior. “Bryanna is a smooth offensive player with a nice 3-point shot. She has ability to put the ball on the floor and make mid-range jumpers or can finish. She is long and is a good shot blocker,” Davenport said. Hannah Schultz, a 5-11 sophomore, “is a strong physical player with a good skill set. She can hit the 3 and can also hit mid-range jumpers.” Josey Love, a 5-10 junior, “is a floor leader. She works extremely hard and is the best passer on the team. Josey can finish with both hands. She is a good rebounder and tough physical defender,” Davenport said. Allie Wilkins, a 5-6 sophomore, “is a great 3-point shooter with improved strength and skill.” Davenport also mentioned Autumn Clark and Brady Pruitt as “two savvy guards that will have to direct the point position.”

How will you match/exceed/fall short of success from last year? “We lost all five starters from last year and the top two reserves. This will be a learning and growing year for the young players and the inexperienced ones also,” Davenport said. “We have had a great summer working hard on the weights and fundamentals. The girls have worked extremely hard and are improving day by day.”

Strengths of the team: Shooting and defense.

Weakness of the team: With his top seven players from last season gone, “inexperience” was Davenport’s reply.

Games to watch: Central Arkansas Christian, El Dorado and Watson Chapel. “They’re all great programs with great coaches and tradition,” Davenport said.

Toughest opponent: El Dorado “They’re the defending state champs and have a good returning group,” Davenport said.

College prospects; Schultz and Moltz. “Schultz could be one of the top sophomores in the state,” Davenport said. “Moltz is 6-foot and long and she can play multiple positions. She has a real nice mid-range, pull-up jump shot. If she plays with confidence, she could be a sleeper in the 2013 class.”
