Where I live:

I live in Otter Creek with my wife, Karen, and our two children, Darryl (9) and Taylor (7).

Occupation:

I am the director of housing and economic development for Better Community Developers. We are a nonprofit, faith-based organization affiliated with the Theresa Hoover United Methodist Church. We’ve been in Little Rock for about 30 years and I oversee the affordable housing program.

My favorite space:

It’s the big red leather chair in our living room.

Why? It’s my comfort zone. When I get home from work, I go to my chair and the kids come running and jump on my lap. The chair is pretty beaten up but this is where we share the events of the day. It takes my son about five minutes to tell me his day was fine and it takes my daughter a good hour. She tells me everything from the beginning to the end.

Red is my favorite color, which dates back to my college days when I was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Crimson and cream were our colors so I’ve taken them as my colors of choice. From my chair, I can also watch CNN on our big screen television and visit with Karen while she’s cooking dinner.

If I could do one thing to improve this space, I would:

Install a surround sound system.
